Thanks to the weaving process, individual woven ribbon cables can be produced at moderate costs. Unlike special flat cables, where nothing works without investment in injection moulds and set-up times, weaving eliminates costly lead times.
The loom system only has to be adjusted precisely to the production parameters. This means that smaller production batches – such as for small series or prototypes – can also be produced without any problems.
Performance – precisely adjustable.
Thermal loads are not an issue in the textile composite, as there are no direct material connections between the adjacent elements. Thus, the woven ribbon cable impresses with optimum heat dissipation and the transmission of high currents or reduced cross-sections at the same current strength.
Another advantage is that the elements can move freely against each other within the fabric and are deformable along several axes.
When it comes to fine-tuning the textile connecting cables, parameters such as the precise choice of weaving yarn or the individual adjustment of the fabric structure or the manufacturing process take effect. Warp threads can also be used to provide additional strain relief for the individual wires.
